Deuteronomy 1:26-27
Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God; and you complained in your tents, and said, ‘Because the Lord hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
These words were spoken by Moses to the Israelites when they refused to go and take the Promised Land out of fear of the giants they saw there. They had witnessed His miracles in bringing them out of Egypt, and seen the pillars of fire and of smoke; they had been through the Red Sea, but when it came to trusting Him to put down these latest enemies, they backed off.
